NLaG chose Insource as strategic data management partner – initially as unified data foundation across three hospitals and community services
Reading & Scunthorpe, UK – 25 July 2022: Insource Ltd, the leading data management provider to the NHS, is delighted to have been chosen by Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG) as its foundational data management platform and ultimately as a joint strategic solution in its move towards shared digital services with partner Trust Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
As part of the Digital Aspirant programme and in line with the Humber Acute Services Programme, this strategic decision will deliver a significant upgrade to the ageing data infrastructure within NLaG. As a first step, the Insource data management platform, Health Data Enterprise (HDE), will extract data from the three hospitals managed by the trust – Diana Princess of Wales, Grimsby; Scunthorpe General Hospital, and Goole and District Hospital – and combine it with the SystmOne community services data to deliver a single complete version of the truth of all patient pathway interactions with the Trust. HDE creates fully validated, standardised, unified data for trust-wide care coordination, BI and analytics, and statutory reporting.
HDE, which will be provided as a managed service on the Microsoft Azure platform, will release existing analytics staff from time-consuming data warehouse management and system development tasks, enabling them to refocus efforts on Trust BI and analytics activities.
Christopher Evans, Associate Director of Information Systems, for NLaG commented, “Whilst this is initially about replacing our ageing data warehouse, the core decision is primarily to ensure strategic alignment and collaboration between our two organisations. We already have a shared vision between NLaG and HUTH and we will be merging onto a single platform across both organisations within the next couple of years. What Insource gives us is data consistency and continuity of reporting across the wider regional footprint while we redesign clinical services and pathways to meet our integrated care goals.
“We needed to mitigate the risks of our older system. We wanted a partner that was at the forefront of data management advances, and provided a wider network of customers to share best practice.
“With its deep knowledge of the NHS and data management, and its substantial customer base, Insource gives us that. Going with managed services allows us to release analyst time back into the business and the platform provides the operational resilience needed while we rationalise our digital services.”
Sam Elliott, CEO, Insource, stated: “The Humber Acute Services Programme is designed to develop hospital services of the future and deliver better, more accessible care across the Humber region. The establishment of the data platform at NLaG is seen as an essential first step and we are honoured that Insource is seen as a foundational enabler to this vital regional project.
“We are seeing more and more of our customers taking up our managed services options. Our ground-breaking data management solutions and deep NHS knowledge, developed over 20 years, is proving very attractive to clients. With our multitude of NHS-tested data feeds we can get even complex sites operational within weeks rather than months. And, our out-of-the-box readiness ensures we don’t need to charge hefty consultancy fees to make things work.”
